What Makes Birch Firewood so Special?
Birch is “the cadillac” of firewood available in Alberta. What makes it so special is that it is a hardwood which means it is has high density and low sap. For best burning results, birch needs to be seasoned (dried to < 20% moisture).
Some characteristics of Birch firewood:
- High heat yield
- Clean burn (minimal ashes)
- Burns slowly
- Very little sparks
- Pleasing aroma
- Colourful flame
The birch wood fires reduces creosote buildup and the hot coals the fire produces makes it great for BBQ, campfire snacks or for use in your pizza oven.
